The American River Outfitters’ Association is composed of commercial river outfitters operating on the three
forks of the American River as a local trade organization to effectively communicate, advocate for and enhance
their businesses, professional standing and the continued health of the American River Watershed.
Introduction of Organization
Create and maintain an organizational structure for the American River Outfitters’ Association. This should
include a board of directors, bylaws, ethics, appropriate incorporation, financial oversight and staffing. The
board oversees staff giving direction on projects defined by the board.
1) Communication:
Have documented, transparent communication amongst association members on all issues we deal with.
2) Public Relations:
Speak with a unified voice to create a positive, proactive image for the American River outfitting industry.
3) Infrastructure:
Advocate for improved infrastructure to better facilitate the river industry and public access to American River
waterways.
4) Community Partnerships and Alliances
Seek beneficial partnerships with other relevant organizations, individuals, and/or government agencies to
enhance the public use of the American rivers and to protect and preserve the American River Watershed.
5) Collaboration and Fair Practices
Enhance and uplift the American River Outfitters Associations reputation and communication within our
association as well as with the the individuals and entities outside the association
6) Threats
Identify and address issues and policies that could jeopardize our local commercial river industry and its
members.
7) Directory & Information
Create, maintain, update and continually expand a working contact directory with information helpful in
ensuring success, particularly during emergencies.
8) Enhance employee experience with training and resources.
